Real Estate-A job and not so glamorous like TV portrays. But I love it!
Over the past month I have been contacted by several people talking about getting their real estate license. They are very surprised when I tell them the truth about my job. They say that I make it look easy. Well, my job is to make real estate look like an easy job. I strive to make my clients real estate connection with me, as painless as possible. (for my clients) TV shows realtors only showing houses and then having fun when they aren't showing. Real Estate takes a person to be most importantly a "people person",and have the ability to be super flexible, a strong negotiator, strong computer skills, marketing knowledge and must be able to think "out of the box" and be a VERY hard worker and willing to work all hours and when needed 7 days a week. When I am not showing houses, I am marketing myself on the internet and in my community. I am working and investing money in advertising, technology and working on my website, leads, doing comparitive market analysis for people. checking on my listings, doing paperwork, desk duty, ordering surveys, pest inspections, and much more. This really isnt a job for someone with small children as it is not fair to them , especially while starting up your business. Many Realtors that are seasoned can appreciate this. It is a very competitive business. The 2 years I have been in the business, I have seen many people get their license and quit because if you dont sell enough, you won't be able to pay all the dues and fees that we pay. It is very important to put money back into your business and live on a budget in case you have a slow month. However,, if you do dare to get your license and it gets in your blood, you will love it because it doesn't feel like work to me. I love pounding that sign in the yard while it's rain or shine. It is my passion and I devote an average of about 12-16 hours a day to it! So if you decide to make the plunge,,, see you on the High Roads!
